With over 15 years of education and community development experience, Edmund C. Fleet has been serving as the Executive Director of Building Bridges Across the River, the nonprofit organization that founded and now runs the Town Hall Education Arts and Recreation Campus (THEARC) since the spring of 2006.  Under his leadership, THEARC is home to 10 nonprofit organizations that together deliver more than $11 million in cultural arts and social service programs to more than 80,000 clients annually.  His previous experiences include serving as Director of Community Programs with William C. Smith + Company and teaching for the District of Columbia Public Schools.  He has served on the boards of LifeSTARTS and District of Columbia Primary Care Association, and received several awards including the William C. Smith + Company Award of Recognition for Leadership of the Summer Youth Employment Program and the Apartment and Office Builders Association of Metropolitan Washington's Outstanding Leadership Award.  Having worked in DC's Ward 8 for numerous years, he often serves as its ambassador to the greater Washington area.  He currently is a board member of the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities.

Mr. Fleet holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Master’s Degree in Education, both from Howard University.  He is married to Ericka Fleet and they have one son, Victor.
