The Center for Non-Profit Advancement Brings Professional Development Courses to THEARC

The Center for Nonprofit Advancement’s Learning and Leadership Institute will offer the following programs at THEARC in order to help nonprofit leaders advance their mission and professional development. Non-profits serving communities east of the Anacostia River recieve special registration rates.

Free Outdoor Yoga Now Available During the Ward 8 Farmers Market

This summer the Ward 8 Farmers Market and THEARC is piloted a regular calendar of activities which provide free, healthful activities for youth & adults Saturdays during the Ward 8 Farmers Market. Free Beginner's Yoga will take place outdoors in THEARC's Organic Garden on the second, third and fourth Saturday of each Month at 10 AM from July 12 - August 23, 2014. September dates are TBA.

Filmfest DC Presents Summer Series at THEARC Theater

As a community service, the Washington, DC International Film Festival (Filmfest DC) will present "Filmfest DC at THEARC Theater," a weekend series of film festival favorites. The series will take place July 11, 12 and 14 and feature films for both adults and young people. Admission for all events is free-of-charge. This project is supported by a grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

Building Bridges Across the River Participates in Do More 24


On June 19th thousands of area residents will come together to create solutions to our community’s most pressing challenges by participating in Do More 24.

DC Black Theatre Festival Returns to THEARC Theater for Summer 2014

The DC Black Theatre Festival is a self-producing festival, where established and emerging artists can present their work. For some, established and emerging artists can present their work. This year, DCBTF will showcase five plays at THEARC from June 21-June 29, 2014. Shows range in costs from $17-$18 per General Admission Ticket. Shows and detail are below:

THEARC Theater and Imagination Stage Announce Pilot Production for 2015 Partnership Program

Building Bridges Across the River is proud to announce a special presentation of the Inside Out Tour at THEARC in collaboration with Imagination Stage. FREE performances of Inside Out will take place at THEARC Theater April 16-18 at 10:30 AM and 11:45 AM each day. These productions will serve as a pilot for THEARC Theater’s 2015 programing schedule.

N.O.I Charities and Parklands Community Center to Distribute Free Grocries to 30 Families in Need

N.O.I Charities Inc. in association with Parklands Community Center will be giving away groceries to thirty families in need on March 22, 2014 at THEARC between the hours of 11AM and 1PM. They will also be offering employment opportunities & resources. If you would like to donate to the cause or volunteer, please bring your canned goods or food donations to Parklands Community Center or contact Brenda Jones at parklandscommunitycenter@yahoo.com or call Muhammad's Temple of Islam at 410-998-0705.

THEARC is a home away from home for the many underserved children and adults of East of the River, enabling them to participate in dance classes, music instruction, fine arts, academics, continuing education, mentoring, tutoring, recreation, medical and dental care, and other services at a substantially reduced cost or no cost at all. THEARC includes a regulation size gymnasium, libraries, computer labs, classrooms, dance, music and visual arts studios, an art gallery, public playgrounds and gardens and other first-rate facilities.
