Anacostia Coordinating Council Annual Meeting - 11th Street Bridge Park Presentation
Members of the community and general public are invited to join the Anacostia Coordinating Council (ACC), for a presentation on plans for the 11th Street Bridge Park Project.
This event is free. Refreshments will be served.
11th Street Bridge Park Walkability, Data Analysis and Case Study Presentation
For the past four months, students at Virginia Tech’s Graduate Urban Planning Studio have been studying plans for an 11th Street Bridge Park, with the goal of ensuring that the park is deeply stitched into surrounding neighborhoods. At this final presentation, students will share their research, analysis and recommendations.

Bayanihan National Dance Company
The Embassy of the Philippines and the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities present a special performance of the Bayanihan National Dance Company, a multi-awarded dance company from the Philippines that has garnered international recognition with its performances throughout the world. The company will perform 3 traditional dances and engage the audience in a pre-performance talk and demonstration.
Kids Euro Festival: The Almost Famous Cricket
Kids Euro Festival presents, “The Almost Famous Cricket,” a musical performance from Romania inspired by the fables of the French writer Jean de la Fontaine. Children will be enchanted by the puppets, the characters, the plot, as well as by the cheerful atmosphere of the show.
Kids Euro Festival: Creation Of The World
Kids Euro Festival presents “Creation of the World,” a Lithuanian contemporary dance performance for children which explores how the world was made. What was first? Stars, water, sky, day or night, birds or animals? Audience participation is encouraged, too.
Financial Literacy 101 Workshop
LIFT-DC and Capital One present, “Back to the Basics: Financial Literacy 101 Workshop,” an evening workshop led by a Capital One expert that will discuss which different savings, investments, checking accounts and credit options exist for you.
Fall Harvest Fest
Join THEARC and its partners for an afternoon of fun gardening projects to winterize THEARC Organic Community Garden. There will be various family-friendly activities including a Zumba class, dance and music performances, pony rides, horseshoe games, and a moon bounce for kids.
All Stars Program Orientation
Parklands Community Center presents the “All Stars Program,” a fun-filled and educational program to help youth say “No” to alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drugs while striving to help them choose a positive lifestyle for their future. Youth ages 11-14 who reside in Ward 8 are eligible to participate.
The Washington Ballet @THEARC 2012-2013 School Year Audition
The Washington Ballet @ THEARC will be holding it's last group auditions for the 2012-2013 school year on Saturday, September 8, 2012. The cost of the audition is $40. All students must come dressed in ballet attire and girls must have their hair in a bun. Audition fee is due at the time of audition. For students ages 4-6, please contact The Washignton Ballet at THEARC by calling 202-274-4533. Audition times are as follows:
