Jazz Meets Hip Hop Concert and Master Class

The DC Jazz Festival presents a master class with saxophonist/composer, Dr. William E. Smith and his band, W.E.S. Group.  The master class will demonstrate the connections between jazz and hip hop music and give students and teachers an understanding of the unifying features of these cultural creations originated in the African American community.

STR8-N-UP Productions, Inc. presents its second HIV/AIDS-themed play, “The Dance.”   The play follows two women, the men in their lives, and their experiences with HIV.  The story illustrates the fact that seniors, once thought unlikely to be as vulnerable as other groups, are very vulnerable with rates of new cases alarmingly high.
