NSO musician Glenn Donnellan has joined together two of his most unlikely likes:  the violin and … baseball?  Yes!  In this home-run performance, kids are introduced to the Electric Slugge - a new electric violin that he custom made out of a Louisville Slugger(r) baseball bat.  Playing a variety of violins from around the world, Donnellan brings together far-flung musical styles from mystical Eastern music to American fiddling, Vivaldi to Van Halen-revealing the histories of these world instruments and the science of how a violin makes its music.

 
Come early for the Musical Instrument "Petting Zoo."  Starting one hour before the Kinderkonzert, this hands-on activity gives children a chance to get up close with the instruments they'll see played on stage-from violins and trumpets to oboes and flutes.  A project of the Women's Committee for the NSO.
