In an effort to reach thousands of District residents who are out of work, the DC Department of Employment Services (DOES) has launched the second phase of the One City, One Hire campaign, an initiative Mayor Vincent C. Gray announced in early September designed to encourage businesses in the Washington Metropolitan Area to hire qualified, unemployed District residents.

The initial focus of the campaign centered on creating public-private partnerships with local employers by offering them a number of DOES support services and incentives to help reduce the District’s high unemployment rate.
 
One City, One Hire – Phase II will now focus on the needs of the District’s unemployed job seekers.
 
This event will help District job seekers register at OneCityOneHire.org in order to be matched with local employers.  There will also be information on various training programs.
