On January 20, 2011, First Lady Michelle Obama joined Bill Simon, President and CEO of Walmart US, and other senior executives from the company to announce Walmart's initiative to make food healthier and more affordable for families across the US by 2015.

Mrs. Obama has been a strong advocate of healthier nutrition and combating child obesity though her Let's Move campaign.

"Our mission...is not only to help these customers save money, but to help them live better, too.  To more and more customers, living better means the ability to walk into our stores and find foods that will help their families live healthier lives.  And importantly, to find these foods at prices they can afford," said Leslie Dach, Walmart's Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs.
