THEARC Annouces Expansion of Campus and New Partnerships

The third and final phase of the $34 million expansion of the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC) will begin later this month with a groundbreaking on October 22. $10.1 million has been raised so far for the $12.5 million fundraising effort for this phase. With designs by Alexandria-based Sanchez Palmer Architects, THEARC's new building will provide space for a larger Children's Health clinic, a black box theater, a gallery-educational center from the Phillips Collection, as well as a space for the the Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys and the Appletree Institute for Education and Innovation. There are also plans for a teaching kitchen and café. This construction will displace a pair of playgrounds and a basketball court, which will later be replaced.
