Ward 8 Arts & Cultural Council Brings Free Screening of "Kill the Messenger" to THEARC Theater

On September 18th, 2015 at 6:30 PM, 100Reporters, the investigative news group, in partnership with Ward 8 Arts & Cultural Council will present “Kill the Messenger” at THEARC Theater.  The film is a thriller in the vein of “All the President’s Men.” Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Avengers) portrays Gary Webb, the real-life journalist who alleged the CIA supported Nicaraguan contra efforts through the importation of crack cocaine into American cities. Threatened against releasing his evidence, Webb nevertheless wrote a 1996 three-part series in the San Jose Mercury News — paying for it with his reputation and ultimately his life. Following the screening, panel discussion with experts on the subject.
