THEARC Farm Announces Workshop Series for Adults
Adult Workshop Series
Intro to Gardening
Cost: $8 General admission, Free for C.R.I.S.P. Members

This introductory class will teach participants about the basics of starting a home garden. The class will cover, planting in ground vs raise beds, tips for growing food in a small space or community garden, seasonality and planting schedules, soil health, pollinator plants and tips for getting seeds and plants.

THEARC Farm is a part of DPR’s community compost co-op. The program allows community members to drop off their compost at community bins across the city. This workshop provides participants with the basic do’s and don'ts of composting. It includes tips for composting kitchen scraps, types of browns and greens that can be added to a compost bin and a hand’s on activity that shows participants how to build a compost pile. Participants who complete the training can join the compost co-op.

Learn the basics of companion planting, to enhance the growth of your fruits, vegetables, and herbs. This class will provide tips on what types of plants you can plant together in your garden bed. Companion planting is a great way to reduce pests and enhance plant growth organically.
