Programs

THEARC Theater is home to over 300 events each year including graduation ceremonies, round-table discussion forums, plays and productions directed by THEARC’s partner organizations. As a part of THEARC’s mission to serve the community with affordable, high quality arts entertainment, THEARC theater provides the following annual programming under the leadership of Building Bridges Across the River (managing organization of THEARC):

 

 

 

 

 

Black History Month @ THEARC Theater

Exposes school aged youth to world-class plays and musical productions celebrating African American history. These plays are free of cost and highlight local artists or groups.

 

 

 

 

Double Time Jazz @ THEARC Theater

Performance based programming supporting the growth of jazz music east of the Anacostia River through concert productions featuring local, national and international artists and groups.

 

 

 

 

 

Imagination Stage @ THEARC Theater

This partnership brings Imagination Stage productions east of the Anacostia River! Imagination Stage inspires creativity through theatre and arts education programs that nurture, challenge, and empower young people of all abilities. Their Early Childhood program that focuses on children aged 1-5, providing fun and developmentally exciting experiences through classes and live performances. 

 

 

Showtime Tuesdays @ THEARC Theater

This six week, fun-filled source of entertainment provides a free movie and companion literary activity to youth. The I CAN at THEARC Theater Technical Theater interns will read stories and provide word challenges at the start of each production to encourage literacy through performance arts.

 

 

 

 

The Annual Harvest Festival at THEARC

This event offers fun outdoor events in addition to free food and great music in celebration of THEARC’s Organic Garden. Guests can even tour THEARC’s hoop house and learn about fresh produce.

 

 

 

 

THEARC’s Holiday Tree Trimming

During the winter holiday season, the partner organizations at THEARC extend a warm invitation to the community to participate in our festive evening of free activities including decorating a beautiful tree, partaking in tasty treats, watching special performances and much more!
